From the 2d of June 2016, the city of Bordeaux has its own institute dedicated to "wine civilisations". The Cité du Vin is a mine of information about the civilisations and skills involved in the world of wine. It is housed in a huge illuminated glass tower at the entrance to Bordeaux, on the banks of the Garonne, in the up and coming district of Les Bassins à Flot.
Discover all about wine civilisations from antiquity to today, from the arid lands of Mesapotamia to the San Francisco Bay, from the ridges of the great Bordeaux vineyards to the wide open plains of Australia. Neither museum nor theme park, the Cité des civilisations du Vin subtly blends the best of both worlds, to emphasising the emotional side; feelings and dreams, in a spectacular, sensory and playful multimedia journey.
Finally, at the top of the tower, you will find a Panoramic viewpoint, from which you can admire Bordeaux and its vineyards from above.
